My Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Shopping Guide + Top Picks

Dates, Early Access & My Shopping Guide

It's here — my favorite sale of the entire year. If you've been around a while, you know I plan my fall wardrobe around the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (the #NSale), and this is the one event I tell everyone not to sleep on. Below you'll find everything you need to shop it smart this year: the dates, how early access works, my strategy after years of doing this, the categories actually worth your money, and my running wishlist — which I'll be updating with honest try-ons all week.

Let's get you ready.

First — what makes the NSale different?

This is the part people miss. The Anniversary Sale is not a summer clearance event. It's one of the only times all year that Nordstrom marks down brand-new fall arrivalsbefore the season starts — the boots, denim, coats, and cashmere you'd otherwise pay full price for in September. Once the sale ends, prices go back up. That's why the strategy matters: the best pieces, in the best sizes, sell out fast and don't always come back.

2026 NSale dates to save

How early access works (and whether you need the card)

Early access comes down to your Nordy Club status, which is tied to whether you have the Nordstrom credit card and how much you spend each year. Cardholders shop first, in tiers — Icon, then Ambassador, then Influencer — before the sale opens to the public on July 18.

You do not need the card to shop the sale. But early access is genuinely the difference between getting the bestselling boot in your size and watching it sell out before your turn. If you shop Nordstrom regularly, the card can be worth it for this perk alone — though only you can decide if another card fits your life, so no pressure from me either way.

This year I'm shopping during early access, which means I'll have real try-ons and honest "worth it / skip it" picks for you before the sale opens to everyone. Watch your inbox next Monday for that.

How I shop the NSale smart

After more years of doing this than I'll admit, here's the strategy that actually works:

  1. Build your wishlist during the preview. Log in, "heart" everything you're curious about, and sort by your size and color. When your access opens, you'll check out in minutes instead of scrolling.

  2. Shop the second your window opens. Your cart doesn't hold inventory — if you love it, check out, then keep browsing. Cardholders get free shipping, so multiple smaller orders are totally fine.

  3. Know your measurements. When in doubt, order two sizes and send back the one that doesn't work. Returns are free and easy.

  4. Prioritize the things that sell out first (more on that below) before you wander into the fun stuff.

  5. Shop your closet gaps, not the hype. Before the sale, take five minutes to note what you actually need this fall — the blazer that's seen better days, jeans that finally gave out, a bag you've been eyeing. Shopping with intention is how you come away with pieces you'll wear for years.

  6. Save your receipts for price adjustments. If something you bought drops further during the sale, Nordstrom can often refund the difference.

The categories actually worth shopping

Not everything in the sale is a deal worth chasing. These are the ones that consistently deliver:

  • Boots & booties. The star of the sale, every year, and the first to sell out in popular sizes. Shop this category first.

  • Designer denim. Premium jeans rarely go on sale — this is the moment to replace the pair that finally wore out.

  • Elevated knits & cashmere. Stick to versatile neutrals in quality fibers (wool, cashmere, alpaca blends) that will anchor your wardrobe for years.

  • A great jacket or blazer. The perfect time to invest in that one transitional layer you don't want to pay full price for.

  • Designer beauty value sets. Quietly the best deal of the whole sale — full-size favorites bundled well below their usual cost.

  • Accessories. One great bag, a pair of elevated sunglasses, or gold earrings can lift everything you already own.

A note for my coastal & warm-weather girls

If you're shopping from somewhere that doesn't see a real winter (👋 from Florida), lean into the wear-now side of the sale: easy dresses, denim, elevated tees and knits you can layer lightly, beauty, and accessories. Save the heavy coats for whoever needs them — and put that budget toward the boots, bags, and transitional pieces you'll actually reach for here.

NSale FAQ:

When can I shop? It depends on your status: cardholders shop July 14–16 by tier, and the sale opens to everyone July 18.

Do I need the Nordstrom card? No — anyone can shop once it's public on July 18. The card just gets you in earlier, which matters most for fast-selling categories.

Is it actually worth it? If you have real fall wardrobe gaps, yes. It's one of the only times new-season pieces are discounted, and prices return to full on August 10.

What sells out first? Boots, designer denim, and the beauty value sets. Shop those early.

Can I return things? Yes — Nordstrom's returns are free and easy, which is exactly why I say order two sizes when you're unsure.
